The game punishes excess cargo by dumping your supplies into the void, and this penalty ramps up very quickly. Be careful when your daily consumption shoots up, as there can be a LOT more actual damage hiding behind it. ![]() ![]() The game under represents the damage caused by hyperspace storms, solar coronas and neutron death rays. For long journeys double or even triple it. At the very least hold on to 3 months worth of supplies, or multiply your regular daily consumption by 100. Scrape the bottom of the piggy bank for supplies, and suspend fleet repairs BEFORE you run dry. Don't run out! You do NOT save money by refusing to buy supplies, the damage to CR% rating will hit you much harder than monthly upkeep. The biggest death spirals happen around supplies, so pay attention to them. Supply management is very important early game. Check out system bars, and explore around the core worlds to pick up on news of missions. One of the biggest early game money makers are the missions.
